Episode Script

A: Hello dear listeners, welcome to our podcast Amazing people revisited. Today our guest has a very special personal message to share with us about a man that played on important part in their life. Anthony is what is commonly referred to as a son from a father, who wants to discuss the role that his father played in his life. Welcome, Anthony. Do you mind sharing what role did your father play in your life and why are you sharing it now.

B: Hi fellow podcaster. With pleasure. So, yes, Yanick is an amazing man. He is not often mentioned among the great teachers of the world, the greatest craftsmen, nor the great musicians, but his reputation precedes him. For instance, did you know that the best speakers ever created came from his hands?

A: Oh wow. No I didn’t. That’s crazy. The megablasters?

B: Yeah! And making great speakers is great, but a speaker is nothing without good music. Did you know he also wrote AND interpreted great songs?

A: Wow. No?

B: Yeah. He wrote “I want to tell you”, and “catch the sails”. I still listen to “I want to tell you” after all these years. A masterpiece.

A: No way! I love that song. It always makes me cry when he says “Soon our paths will disappear, but I will always be here, but nobody where you are, just remember my guitar, who sang to you my greatest star”.

B: Precisely. You know, we are talking about music, and I could tell you about the absolutely insanely awesome things he created, the houses, the yards, the boats, the youtube channels, the insane cakes, and on and on, and how everything he touches seems to just get better….

A: …Like King Midas’ golden touch in the tale? Hahaha

B: Yeah! Ahahah! But really it is who he is, his character, that makes him one of the Greats. You know, he would be king of the world and I would be confident in the path he traces.

A: Right. Its not his status or his achievements, it is who he is.

B: Yeah. You know, for a man in his 50s, what is also crazy is how much listens.

A: What do you mean?

B: It sounds like every man at a certain age has this tendency to turn into a bragging machine, just boasting about shallow achievements. But Yanick just listens. He just listens! He can listen to podcasts hours per day, every day, and just absorbs. He learns.

A: I thought dads were supposed to just watch TV and drink beer?

B: Yeah you couldn’t be more wrong. You know how people’s homes tend to reflect their inner self?

A: Yeah?

B: Well yeah I think people would commit crimes to live in our family haha.

A: Hahaha watch out! Our audience is listening!

B: Yeah so my key point here is that we often talk about the greatest people in the world, as well as the worst, and spend lots of time talking about them. But really what I wanted to share today is that by looking so far away we miss the people right around us. And it turns out those are way greater than the “greats”, because they actually shape our lives. And so many things boil down to them. You know. We get so caught up in this extraordinary world, but really the mundane sort of hides what is the most extraordinary, don’t you think?

A: Yeah, yeah, sort of like when you start talking about politics and society issues and you get so obsessed with them that you don’t realize that you’re literally standing in a living proof that society can be the most amazing thing right?

B: Yeah! I mean, how the fuck did we even get here, right? Somehow, I was raised by a man that has a paradise inside him, even though the world is pretty much hell. Doesn’t that appear contradictory?

A: Totally.

B: Yeah. So, I just want to conclude by saying that Yanick is really one of the Greats, and I love him so much. I hope that people give him the credit that is owed for all the stuff he does. Sometimes he sends you 1 hour long podcasts he expects you to listen to, but sometimes you should. Because that’s what he would do.

A: Thank you for your message Anthony. I think that will resonate with a lot of people out there.

B: Thank you for hosting me.

A: That was it folks, on this episode of Amazing people revisited, we hosted Anthony who discussed Yanick, the great craftsman, musician, thinker, listener, and teacher. Quite a lot of titles to hold. Thank you for staying around, see you next week for the next episodes!
